Ship Bottom
Ship Bottom is the gateway to the island and the first town you enter after traveling over the causeway bridge and arrive on LBI. It is a busy town. There are restaurants, shops, pharmacies and a grocery store, a place of worship, miniature golf coures, boat rentals and marinas, hotels and professional businesses concentrated in this area. Ship Bottom has a public boat ramp and a nice bay bathing beach with play ground where free concerts given in the summer time.
During the holidays, the town is lit up for the festivities and Ship Bottom hosts the annual Christmas Parade with floats, marching bands and plenty of fire trucks! Ship Bottom is also home to the famous Ron Jon’s surf shop as well as many other great places to purchase and rent surf and beach gear.
All beaches are open to the public, accessible at each street end and guarded during the summer months. Ship Bottom is home to one of two elementary schools that serve the Long Beach Island consolidates school districts and serves 4th through 6th grade students.
In Ship Bottom there are beach front condominiums, beach bungalows and cottages, duplexes and triplexes, raised ranches, capes and contemporary homes.
