Q: Do I need a beach badge? Where can I purchase them and how much do they cost?
A: Beach badges are required daily from 10 a.m to 5 p.m. during the summer until Labor Day. (In some municipalities children under the age of 12 and senior citizens are free or don't require a badge). Daily and weekly beach badges can be purchased on the beach from the beach badge checkers or you can go to the municipality where you are staying and buy them there. In some municipalities you can only buy seasonal beach badges at the municipal building. Prices vary by municipality. The 2009 Summer Season rates are posted at the bottom of this page.
Q: When is the best time to start looking for a rental property?
A: It is best to begin your search early especially if you need special accomodations, if you want a waterfront location, a large house, a seasonal rental or if the dates when you are planning to visit are not flexible. November and December are good months to begin your search. Contact an agent and let them know what you are looking for. By January most owners have contacted us to confirm what dates their property is available and at what rate.
Q: Can I bring my pet?
A: Most owners will not allow tenants to bring a pet. There are exceptions that will allow a dog under 30 lbs.
Q: Is there anything I need to bring down with me?
A: Our rentals are housekeeping units. Kitchens are equipped with pots, pans, utensils, coffee makers etc. You will need to bring your own sheets and towels. There are linen services on the Island that will rent them if you do not want to bring them with you.
Q: How much of a deposit is required to secure my rental property?
A: A deposit of 50% of the total rent is due when you sign your lease. The remaining balance plus security deposit is due 30 days prior to your check in date. A postcard will be mailed to you to remind you of your balance due.
Q: Will you accept a personal check? Can I pay by credit card?
A: We will accept a personal check for payment only if it is received 30 days prior to your check in date. We do not take credit cards.
Q: When do I check in? Where do I pick up my keys?
A: Check in time in the majority of our properties is 2 p.m. There are exceptions so it is important to check your lease. Keys are availablefor pick up at 2 p.m. at our office at 217 N. Bay Ave. Beach Haven, on the corner of 3rd St and So. Bay Ave. There are no exceptions to the check in time.
Q: Is there a cleaning service for the rentals?
A: The owners arrange for cleaning of the unit between check out (11 a.m.) and check in (2 p.m.) However, the rental units are "housekeeping units" and our lease requires that tenants take out the garbage, do dishes, make beds and sweep before their departure.
Q: When will my security deposit be returned to me?
A: Your security deposit will be released after the owner or his/her designee, has inspected the property, within 14 days of your departure.
Q: Do rentals have internet access?
A: Some of our owners have hi speed internet access but most do not offer access so it is important that you let me know if you need it when searching for a rental. There is an internet cafe on the island in Surf City and computers with internet access are available at the public library in Surf City.
